In this guide, I will walk you through the steps to set up WordPress API credentials on N8N, enabling you to connect and automate workflows between N8N and your WordPress site.
Step 1: Access N8N and Open Credentials
- Go to N8N: Log in to your N8N account.
- Navigate to Overview: Once logged in, click on the ‘Overview’ tab.
- Click on ‘Credentials’: In the right sidebar, click on the ‘Credentials’ section.
Step 2: Create a New Credential
- Create New Credential: Click on the arrow button next to ‘Create Workflow.’ From the dropdown, select the ‘Create Credential’ button.
- Search for WordPress API: In the ‘Add new credential’ section, search for ‘WordPress API’ and click on Continue.
Step 3: Fill in the WordPress API Credentials
You will need to fill out the following fields to connect your WordPress site with N8N:
- Username: admin (use your WordPress admin username)
- Password: Enter the password 8eAP **** glYh **** cEhV **** (this is a sample; use the actual password associated with your WordPress admin account and follow step 4)
- WordPress URL: https://roamingdaily.com (replace this with the URL of your WordPress site)
- Ignore SSL Issues (Insecure): Set this to Inactive (unless you want to ignore SSL issues, which is generally not recommended).
Step 4: Generate Application Password in WordPress
Now, head over to your WordPress dashboard to create an application password.
- Go to WordPress Admin Panel: Navigate to https://roamingdaily.com/wp-admin/users.php.
- Click on ‘Admin’ Username: Find the ‘admin’ username and click on it.
- Scroll to ‘Application Passwords’ Section: Once on the admin user page, scroll down to the Application Passwords section.
- Add New Application Password:
- Enter Roaming Daily App Password in the New Application Password Name field.
- Click on the Add New Application Password button.
- Copy the Application Password: The new application password will be displayed (e.g., 8eAP **** glYh **** cEhV ****). Copy this password and paste it in the Password field in N8N.
Step 5: Finalize the Process
After filling in all the necessary details, you have successfully set up the WordPress API credentials on N8N! With these credentials, N8N can now communicate with your WordPress site, enabling seamless automation of workflows and integration with various tools and services.
